Choosing The Right Heavy Duty Conveyor System

Heavy Duty Conveyor systems can be used in many different industrial and even retail situations. Any time an item needs to be moved from one place to another it requires either man time or automation. By automating much of the process of moving an item from one place to another, it frees up the time of employees to actually deal with the processes they were hired to perform. This can result in a substantial saving of time, and eventually money for your company over many months and years.

A difficult choice is deciding between the many systems that are in the market place. These different types of conveyors have all been designed with the movement of items in mind, but each design has a slightly different characteristic which makes it especially suitable in certain situations. What you need to do is work out which type of conveyor will be most suitable for your purpose, based on your individual needs. Don't overlook factors such as maintenance and the expense of replacing parts when this is needed.

Some of the most common types of automated heavy duty conveyor systems are conveyors belts, or conveyors built on rollers. Conveyor belts are common to anyone who has ever done any shopping in a supermarket, as they are ubiquitous in this situation. They have the great quality of being a smooth ride, making them eminently suitable for any product which is fragile, or which could spill its contents on a rougher roller based system. The disadvantages of belt driven automated conveyor systems are that they are harder to keep going when one part is not functioning properly, and that they are harder to mold into unusual shapes.

Contrast this with the roller based conveyors, and you will see the difference between these and the belt conveyor system. The use of rollers makes it far easier to navigate around corners, and to build a conveyor system which will allow the operator to choose his own height, and even vary the width of the conveyor channel. Rollers allow for an easy incline and descent to built in to a conveyor system.

Although people with a large amount of industrial experience will be familiar with most of the different types of conveyor systems, the choice may be daunting to someone just starting out. If you are new to conveyor systems, the Internet will prove to be a great asset to you. Now, you can find out for yourself, without even needing to leave your desk, what the different types of conveyor are most suitable for. Virtually every website now has pictures, and there are even videos of these systems in operation. It has never been easier to choose the right conveyor systems.
